Lautoka new CVC champs after thumping Ba
History has been created by the Lautoka soccer team, as they are the new Pillays Garments CVC soccer series champion.
Lautoka in the final match of the series thrashed Ba by 7-0 today at Govind Park.
They needed four clear goals to finish in top place and did that in style.
Lautoka led 3-0 at the break with goals from Lorima Dau, Marika Madigi and Osea Vakatalesau.
In the second spell Apisai Smith scored the fourth goal while Vakatalesau added another two to his name and Jone Vono Junior was also on target for the sugar city side and the sugar must be tasting more sweet this afternoonin Lautoka.
Lautoka also featured in the CVC series in 2006 and 2009 but were unlucky on both occasions going down to Ba, but they were lucky third time around.
The win for Lautoka, has put Navua into second place in the series, who were hoping that Lautoka does not score more than four goals.
Lautoka apart from claiming the first prizemoney of $3,000 also received a trophy and gold medal while Navua received $1,000 and silver medal for finishing second.
This was also Ba's worst defeat at home and on Friday night they were beaten 3-0 by Navua.
After the win Lautoka soccer president Shalen Prasad said that his side deserved the victory.

Ok, so................... whats the speed of darkness
Ba gave its repects of Fiji Soccer Giants away after this match!!!!
Lautoka's bragging rights are also a waste!!!! _________________ !**dA goLdEn boY**!

I see BA as Man U for Fiji Soccer. _________________ !**dA goLdEn boY**!

I'll always be a die-hard Ba fan, but I totally agree with Sid. It's obvious they took money (rumors are around $800 per player between 7 players) to oust Navua, but what they did was truly shameful. As a district team, you have to think of the fans who come to the games week in, week out, and spend good money to see their heroes play. Ba players back in the day would die on the field for the black jersey, and how do the current crop repay the fans' faith? Jaaye ke saath goal khaaye lin saalan! Pathetic!
If Lautoka truly beat Ba by that scoreline fair and square with no exachange of money or other distractions, then hats off to them. They are a really good side and capable of beating anyone, but to put 7 goals past a pretty strong Ba outfit AT Govind Park....hmmmm...smells fishy to me.
Ba ke kharaab time chale. I think a majority of the soccer players in Fiji don't care about district pride anymore - it's all about the money (which is somewhat understandable). Na baap na bhaiya sabse bada ruppaiya. _________________ BAI CRAIS!!!

rumours. rumours! till these can be proven, i reckon lautoka's great achievement needs to be applauded, not attacked. otherwise, it's doing nothing but assume, which of course leads to making an ass of u and me.
